A sensorial experience called Sónar

Sónar, the International Festival of Advanced Music and New Media Art of Barcelona held its 21st edition this last weekend. When hordes of enthusiastic people are seen around pl. Espanya with color wristbands means Sónar is again in the city, a must event to be enjoyed just when summer starts and your body is thirsty of sensorial experiences. WAMD was at Sónar by day and here are some pictures of our day out: enjoying the music, the beats, the lights, the sun and the velvety curtains.

unidisplay by Carsten Nicolai at SonarPLANTA. Nicolai constructs a space in constant re-construction, a landscape that challenges observer's perception. Sound and Vision within a black chamber that makes you feel infinite.

Machine Variation: the new project by Martin Messier and Nicolas Bernier.

DESPACIO is the new clubbing experience by James Murphy + 2manydjs, the focus moves from the stage to the dancefloor where the protagonists are the public and the auditory experience. During 6 hours Murphy and the Dewaele brothers play vinyls from their personal collections through a McIntosh sound system of more than 50.000 watts. As their creators say: DESPACIO is happiness!

James Holden presenting The Inheritors (2013) at Sónar Hall, an orgy of psychedelic sounds and visuals.
